Common questions

When do I start recording?

Tap Record as the descent begins, or any time before. If you start early, Butter Meter waits in standby and wakes up when the cabin starts to descend. It stops by itself once you're taxiing, or you can hold End.

Where should I put my phone?

Anywhere it won't slide around: in your hand, on the tray table before it's stowed, or in a seat pocket. Keep the app open on screen while you land.

Why does my landing say “not verified” or “low confidence”?

Butter Meter checks that the recording really looks like a flight: a descent on the barometer, a touchdown and a rollout. If the sensors couldn't see enough (location turned off, a very short recording, or the phone moving around a lot), it says so honestly instead of guessing. Only verified landings go on the leaderboard.

Does it work in flight mode?

Yes. Motion and the barometer work offline, and GPS usually works in flight mode too. Weather and the leaderboard catch up when you're back online.

How do I restore Butter Meter Unlimited?

Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with.

How do I remove my leaderboard entries?

Settings → Remove My Leaderboard Entries deletes everything your phone has shared and turns sharing off. If you've already deleted the app, email us with your callsign. See the Privacy Policy for more.
